"Titanic in Denver"
The night of 1912 was a dark day in maritime history: the RMS Titanic struck an iceberg and sank, taking 1517 souls to the bottom of the ocean. Over the decades, the wreck spawned numerous legends, mysteries, and no shortage or highly publicized expeditions to find the legendary ship, though as we all know, Dirk was there first, inspiring the technology that was successfully utilized later (Sorry Robert!).
The legacy of the Titanic is legendary, especially in Denver. Join Aaron Theis, Archaeologist and Historian at History Colorado (formerly the Colorado Historical Society), for a tour of titanic era historical sites in Denver, starting with lunch at the historic Brown Palace Ship’s Tavern (http://www.brownpalace.com/dining/ships_tavern.cfm), one of the settings in Raise the Titanic, then a tour of the home of the enigmatic Molly Brown (http://www.mollybrown.org/), followed by a small tour of Aaron’s neighborhood, Historic Wymna (http://www.denverpost.com/style/ci_15534923?source=pop_section_style) full of architectural treasures from the Titanic era.
